Access Masts are available in heights ranging from 10 metres to 70 metres and are equipped with safety caged ladders which provide access to the floodlight luminaires mounted on the mast. Access Masts are also available for other general area lighting applications such as electrical switchyards, coal stacking areas and similar industrial type applications. The floodlights are mounted on purpose designed cross arms and/or platforms attached to the mast structure and depending on the application, masts can be designed which are able to house in excess of 150 floodlight luminaires. Lighting Structures are also able to design, supply and install the complex electrical systems required on these types of masts including remote mounted electronic P.L.C. controllers. All masts are mounted onto reinforced concrete foundations designed by our engineers to suit the ground conditions applicable. The masts are designed in accordance with SANS1 and 0225 and to suit the particular application and location in stalled. All Lighting Structures Masts are fabricated in our very well equipped, ISO 9001-2000 factory located in Nigel, Gauteng. Lighting Structures offers free design services and are able to provide turnkey solutions including, design, construction of foundations, installation of masts, mast maintenance and inspections and all services associated with high mast projects.
The external access
The external access type masts are generally used for applications requiring smaller quantities of floodlights where the structure size can be limited. The electrical equipment, dependant on the type of floodlights used is housed either on the mast or in cubicles adjacent to the mast.
The internal access
The internal access type masts are used for applications such as where large quantities of floodlights are mounted on the mast headframe and the structure size allows for access ladders to be mounted inside of the mast shaft. The complete electrical equipment including the floodlight control gear is accommodated in the base of the mast providing a waterproof and vandal resistant enclosure.
Possible Venues
These masts are ideal for sports lighting applications ranging from small training type facilities to major sports stadia such as large cricket stadiums and football fields illuminated for television broadcast lighting.
